Heating Tune-Ups In The Summer? That’s Right!

South Carolina summers are gifts that keep on giving. Then fall rolls in and the warm weather continues. Besides backyard BBQs and family time by the pool, this time of year is also the right time for a tune-up on your boiler or furnace. Read on to find out why.

You can choose your appointment time. If you’re busy—and who isn’t?—it’s great to be able to choose your appointment time when you call your local South Carolina HVAC provider for a tune-up. At this time of year, you will have very little standing in your way of setting up a time of your choosing—and your provider will thank you for it!

Tune-ups are built to last. This may come as a surprise, but tune-ups don’t run out or wear off. If you get a tune-up on your oil furnace or oil boiler in the summer, it will last until you need to use the unit in the winter. And if it turns out that you need a more serious repair or even an upgrade, you’ll have time to make that happen before the season changes.

You can avoid an emergency—and other people’s emergencies. When the weather is still warm, you won’t be competing with someone having a heating emergency or system breakdown to get an appointment. However, once the temperatures drop, service providers’ schedules fill up quickly with unexpected no-heat issues.

These emergency appointments take priority over other appointments, so even if you have a tune-up scheduled for early winter and that’s all you need, you may find yourself getting bumped. At this point it will be much harder for you to get a new appointment time—or at least one of your choosing.

You’ll have more time to take advantage of rebates. The South Carolina Convenience & Petroleum Marketers Association—with the support of the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA)—established a rebate program that can really make a difference for homeowners. Funds are limited, so the sooner you find out if you need an upgrade, the better your chances are of cashing in on these offers. Right now, qualified homeowners in South Carolina who want to improve the energy efficiency of their homes can now receive rebates of up to $1000 when they install a new high-efficiency heating system and a new aboveground heating oil tank!
